Smackdown!
Smackdown! Last night was a couple steps down from the near perfect
Raw on Monday; however, it was still an enjoyable show. I think it has
been every WWF fan's dream to see Michael Cole get the snot knocked
out of him. Steve Austin made that dream come true last night after
attacking him at the broadcast table. This was followed by my favorite
moment of the night when Smackdown! Came back from commercial. The expression
and delivery on Paul Heyman's face as he said "Oh look, I'm joined by
J.R." was priceless. All in all a good show, but it lacked the luster
of the final show before a PPV. I can't really say that if I were a
casual wrestling fan I'd buy Sundays PPV. The final broadcast rating
for Smackdown was a 3.6, up 12.5% from last week's series low 3.2.
I am Not Tough
Enough
Smackdown! was followed last night by the series sneak peak of Tough
Enough on MTV. The concept for the reality TV series is that 13 people
(8 men, 5 women) all live in the same house and spend their days and
nights training to become a WWF Superstar. In the end, one woman and
one man will be chosen and will receive guaranteed WWF contracts. In
this very amusing sneak peak, we get to see the auditions for the show
held at WWF New York. I recommend seeing the show if you get a chance.
It should be good for both wrestling and non-wrestling fans. I'm not
a huge fan of reality shows but I think this one has the potential to
be interesting. If nothing else it proves that Tazz is a legitimate
bad ass. If you missed the sneak peak, our friends over at SlashWrestling
have a recap. And when I say friends, I'm lying.
Naked Chicks
Missy Hyatt, former WCW and ECW manager, posted the following message
on her website Tuesday: OK I will put all the rumors to rest NOW.
Yes, myself and Tammy "Sunny" Sytch are in the BUFF on my new site wrestlingvixxxens.com.
The site should be up by June 24th or so. SO check it out! We will be
adding more vixen's every 2 1/2 months and pictures are updated weekly
and a lot of other features. The things women have to do these days
to maintain their crack addiction. It's a shame. In the interests of
good reporting, I will be sure and check it out so that I can tell you,
my loyal fans, all about it without you having to soil yourselves.

Scott Steiner's
Former valet, Midajah, is auctioning
off her time on eBay. Bidding starts at $2500. If you win, you have
to get yourself out to L.A. where Midajah will then rock your fanboy
world. Your day will include: #1 A personal workout with Midajah at
the gym! (where she will laugh at you mercilessly) #2 Lunch with Midajah
at one of L.A.'s exciting eateries! (Probably not McDonalds) #3 Shopping
on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills! (FYI: There are no comic book stores
on Rodeo Drive) #4 Dinner with Midajah at one of her favorite Hollywood
hotspots! (Again, probably not McDonalds) #5 Sex.
#6 I made that last
one up.
Rob Van Damn
RVD has received his WCW contract, but there is no word if he signed
it yet. The WWF is obviously trying to keep all signings quiet so that
they will be a surprise when they appear on TV.
Pete Leaves
Posse
Jim Ross on WWF.com reported that Pete Gas, former Mean Streets Posse
member, has been dropped from the developmental program. He joins Joey
Matthews, American Dragon, Christian York, Mike Howell, Sylvester Terkay,
Spanky, Shooter Schultz, Joey Abs, Rodrageous (Rodney), and Brian Keck
as talents released by the Federation and people you really should waste
time caring about.
Bad Disqo,
Bad
Tuesday afternoon,
former WCW wrestler Disqo was viciously attacked by a dog while visiting
a friend's apartment in Atlanta. Reaching out to pet it, the dog lunged
forward and bit square into the nose of the former self-proclaimed "Manager
of Champions." Disqo had this to say, "Although this vicious beast tried
to take me out and do permanent damage to my nose, I want to assure
concerned fans that I'll make my indy bookings in Canada this weekend.
I am investigating whether or not this attack was premeditated. It brings
up the question once again... just who the hell let the dogs out. Damn
all dogs." I let the dogs out. Woof. Woof.
The Rock Speaks
WWF Champion and Scorpion King, The Rock, made an update to his WWF
site the other day. Long story short, he plans to return to active duty
in the WWF in time for Summerslam. Summerslam will be held on Aug. 19,
2001 in my hometown San Jose, CA. If I don't get in to this show then
it's seriously time I started watching Roller Hockey on Monday nights.
You can check out the rest of The Rock's update here.
King of the
Ring
This Sunday is King of the Ring. If you're in the area, drop by my house
and you can eat pizza with me and my ferret. Here is a quick run down
of the card and my predictions. WWF World Title - Steve Austin vs. Chris
Jericho vs. Chris Benoit. The WWF has painted themselves in to a corner
with this match. If Austin loses to either Benoit or Jericho, then Austin
has the excuse that he was beaten by two men and it does nothing for
the careers of Benoit or Jericho. If Austin pins Benoit or Jericho,
then it gives the appearance that Austin can beat both of these "smaller"
men. I'm honestly hoping that the WWF has something up their sleeve
to make this one work. I'll take Benoit pins Austin and Jericho turns
heel. It gives the WWF writers more possibilities for storylines.
Street Fight -
Kurt Angle vs. Shane McMahon. I pick Shane to win due to outside interference
from Shane's WCW army. It is widely rumored that Kurt Angle wants to
join the new WCW and a loss here to Shane gives that storyline a chance
to continue.
King of the Ring
Tournament
Kurt Angle vs.
Christian - Kurt Should win this match. Because I'm predicting 2 more
loses for the Olympic hero later in the evening.
Rhyno vs. Edge
- I really like Rhyno. He and Tajiri are the best things to happen to
WWF television in a long time. Despite that, he's still new and Edge
is ready for a big singles push. I take Edge over Rhyno and then Edge
over Kurt in the final match to become your 2001 King of the Ring.
WWF Light Heavyweight
Title - Jeff Hardy vs. X-Pac. This was a last minute addition to the
card. I'll just pick X-pac, because. My question is why are these two
men that have both broken out of the "light heavyweight" classification
fighting over the Light Heavyweight title?
Also, you can expect
some sort of confrontation between the Undertaker and DDP. I doubt it
will be a full match. The WWF will probably save that for next months
PPV, "Invasion."
