E3
Madness 2004! Day Two, Part Two
Midway
Arcade Treasures 2
Platform: GC, PS2, Xbox
Publisher: Midway
Developer: Midway Home Entertainment
Release Date: 10/04/2004
Genre: Action
They
say: The collection will contain APB, Arch Rivals,
Championship Sprint, Cyberball 2072, Gauntlet 2, Hard Drivin',
Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, Mortal Kombat 3, NARC,
Pit-Fighter, Primal Rage, Rampage World Tour, Spy Hunter
2, Steel Talons, STUN Runner, Timber, Total Carnage, Wizard
of Wor, Xenophobe, and Xybots.
We
say: The first Midway collection was nice but mostly
for the nostalgia value. The games themselves weren't really
that engaging for very long. With this collection, now you're
talking about games that I blew my college fund on, one
quarter at a time.

The
Punisher
Platform: Xbox, PS2
Publisher: THQ
Developer: Volition, Inc.
Release Date: 01/01/2005
Genre: Action
They
say: Enter the mind of the ultimate vigilante. Interrogate
criminals using their own ruthless methods. Participate
in non-stop, intense action ripped from the pages of Marvel's
darkest stories. Where justice ends, Punishment begins!
- Punisher
War Zone - Act out The Punisher's frustrations in some
of the most intense, visceral action ever to come to video
games!
- Think
and act just like the Punisher - For the first time ever,
grab criminals and exact vengeance on them in dozens of
environmental 'hot spots' triggering custom Punisher moments!
- Interrogation
mode - Use a never-before seen combination of physical
force and character interaction to coerce criminals into
coughing up valuable information!
- Punisher
Armory - Collect and upgrade an arsenal of realistic weapons!
- Punisher
War Journal - Relive special Punisher in-game moments
and collect items from Marvel's Punisher history! The
Punisher game features an original story from critically-acclaimed
Punisher writers Garth Ennis and Jimmy Palmiotti featuring
the Punisher's greatest enemies and allies!
We
say: It will be Max Payne in a skull tee shirt based
on the comic, not the film. If it fixes the problems or
improves upon Max Payne, fantastic! If not, well then,
that would blow.
Good
news is that Garth Ennis, who brought the Punisher comic
back to life and provided the source material that the
film borrowed heavily from, has his hands deep in this
one. If nothing else, the cut scenes will kick ass!
