Could
Bruce Timm Be Meeting His Doomsday?

Through
a long chain of sites, Aint It Cool News reported this morning
that Bruce Timm and Stan Berkowitz are working on a Direct-to-Video
adaptation of Darwyn Cooke's great mini-series, DC: The
New Frontier.
However,
all actual proof of this was removed from the original site
that posted it, World's Finest, allegedly at the request
of Warner Brothers. So I did a little snooping this morning
and contacted some people I know that might actually know.
From
the implications of a conversation this morning, it's possible
that at least at one point, this was a live project. Right
now, though, it is not.
However,
Timm and his team are working on a DTV project,
revisiting Superman: The Animated Series.*
If you watch the extras on volume 3, you'll see the roundtable
discussion in which Timm concludes that he would like another
shot at it. Apparently, somebody listened.
The
villain will be Doomsday, and at least at one point in its
development, it was an adaptation of The Death of Superman.
However, we should trust that Timm will put a spin on it
that we do not expect.
I really
hope this is true. After the not unexpected disappointment
of Brainiac Attacks, it would really be nice if
Warner Home Video accepted that a certain quality level
needs to happen. Let us echo the AICN sentiment -- we'll
probably be told for sure at Comic-Con.
