Prepare
For Comic Book: The Movie
Face
front, true believers, and keep your DVD players handy. Creative
Light Entertainment has given us a quick sneak peak at their
upcoming direct-to-video release through Miramax, the hotly
anticipated (by fanboys, at least) Comic
Book: The Movie.
Filmed
over the four days of the 2002 San Diego International Comic
Convention, this largely improvised comedy brings together
some of the best and the brightest of the cartoon voice-over
industry to get some face time. As director Mark Hamill calls
them, they're some of the best actors you've never seen before.
In addition
to leads like Billy West, Tom
Kenny, Jess Harnell (Wakko Warner), Daran Norris (Cosmo
on The Fairly Oddparents), and Donna
D'errico, a bevy of fanboy favorites make cameo appearances.
Kevin Smith has a bit that will send comics collectors into
apoplectic fits. The grandfathers we all wish we had, Stan
Lee and Hugh Hefner, weigh in. But most importantly, if you
were at the Con in 2002, you just might be in it, too.
The
two-disc DVD will be released on January 27, 2004, and here's
what it includes above and beyond a celebration of what we
love most. (I'm talking about comics, guys. Don't tell the
wife.)
