..and now the circle is complete.
Fresh off his role as Sirius Black in Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban, Gary Oldman will step into the shoes of Police Sergeant James Gordon in Christopher Nolan's upcoming Batman film, now officially titled Batman Begins.
Notice we said Sergeant, not Commisioner. As you might have guessed from this new title, David S. Goyer's script approaches a Bruce Wayne learning how to be Batman and forming a shaky alliance with one of the few good cops on the job in Gotham City.
Oldman joins Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne, Michael Caine
as his butler/surrogate father Alfred, Liam Neeson as the
mysterious Ducard, Katie Holmes as "Rachel Dodson" (I'm still
holding out for Talia), Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, Cillian
Murphy as Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow and of course, last
week's big news, Ken Watanabe as R'as al Ghul.
Shooting starts next week in England at the Shepperton Studios.
And that low humming sound you hear? Thousands of Batfans expressing their satisfaction.
Creepy, isn't it?
