Count Anywhere

Welcome
to Falls Count Anywhere! My name is Chris and I had The
Departed pegged from the get-go
SmackDown!
Good show, though they’ve been doing great stuff on
both shows lately. They opened with a Batista interview
in the ring. It was a weak interview and it sounded so scripted.
There’s nothing wrong with scripted promos, so long
as they don’t sound scripted. The Rock’s
rants of 1999-2000 were almost entirely scripted but you’d
never know it. Batista’s on the downward spiral.
The Greasers
teamed with Joey Mercury to take on Matt Hardy, London and
Kendrick. A solid match when the Faces were on offense.
Hardy tossed Mercury out onto Deuce and Domino in a sweet
spot. The crowd was really into Matt Hardy, which they always
are, and they chanted for him. Wake up, Vince. The crowd
wants him to be pushed. When Hardy came in, it was hot.
He was just so good! It ended with London and Kendrick diving
onto Deuce and Domino while Hardy hit the Twist of Fate
on Mercury for the pin. Good opening match.
Up with Chavo!
Well, Chavo’s not the real star. The real star is
the Worm. It’s bizarre that it’s been so long
since Scotty 2 Hotty started working and doing The Worm
and it’s still way over. I don’t understand
how, but it is. This was actually a pretty good back and
forth between Scotty and Chavo, though Chavo’s not
working up to the heights that he should be at. Chavo rolled
through a Sunset Flip and used the ropes to pin Scotty.
Not bad.
In a
match that wasn’t bad either, despite my fear that
it might be, King Booker ended up winning his way into the
Money in the Bank ladder match by pinning Kane. This started
as a brawl, as you’d expect, and it slowly built into
a better match than I was thinking it would be. Booker did
a DDT onto the barricade! Nice! Kane ducked a Scissors Kick
and then Kane hit Booker with the Bell.
Commercial
and when we’re back, it’s Booker with a Keylock
on Kane. It slowed there and picked up when Kane got on
his offense with his usual move set. Kane almost gave a
big Chokeslam to Booker, but Khali attacked Kane and tossed
him through the barricade, which allowed Booker to get the
pin. Good stuff.
Finlay and Little
Bastard took on Boogeyman and Little Boogeyman. The only
thing I’m gonna say is that Little Boogey is really
committed and to the bit and does a great job mimicking
Boogeyman. I was really impressed with him and I hope he
gets to use the gimmick in Indies. The match was terrible.
Rey Misterio
came out with a cane and got a huge San Diego pop. He came
to the ring and said that his rehab was going well and that
he’ll be back soon. Vince came out and said some stuff
then made a few threats. He asked Rey if he thought that
Vince would beat Trump and Rey said no. Vince called out
Umaga and that led to Vince hitting Rey with his cane and
Umaga attacking. Hot way to end the show.
I liked it and
I’m glad that they’re doing right.
Pride
I’m told that Pride’s last show, Second Coming,
was remarkable. The Nick Diaz vs. Takanori Gomi is being
talked about as the best match of the last few years. I
can’t find it on the web, so I’m bummed. Wanderlai
Silva lost to Dan Henderson standing. That’s a big
deal since Silva was considered to be one of the three top
heavyweights in the world. I really wanna see that show
Ok,
that’s all for this week since Cinequest is looming
large. I’ll have CQ movie reports and a Falls next
Monday!
