Welcome to Falls Count Anywhere! My name
is Chris and the…yeah, I still got nothin’
RAW
on Thursday
Thursday was a busy day for decent TV. Dancing with the
Stars (Stacy and Drew tied for first) and some good Olympics
stuff (I dig Snowboard Cross) so I had to timeshift to watch
RAW.
The biggest news was that they announced
that Bret Hart would be inducted to the WWE Hall of Fame.
That’s a big deal as it really does give a sense of
legitimacy to the Hall. Now they just need Sanmartino and
Backlund.
The
Triple H vs. Big Show match ended in a weird Double-Countout
for the Road to WrestleMania tourney. I’m not sure
what that means but there’s no way HHH doesn’t
get the shot at Cena…is there? No, they’ll just
do a Triple Threat for the finals. By the way, that match
was awful.
They showed a bunch of old Shawn Michaels
clips, including the famous one where he said he ‘lost
his smile’. That was really an amazing interview,
even if the reasons weren’t legit.
Mick Foley was backstage doin’ a little
singing when Edge and Lita came in. They’re buildin’
it, but doin’ it a little too obviously. I do think
that match could draw IF it were for the title.
A fast win for Shelton over Eugene, who
appears to have a thing for Mama Benjamin. The shame of
it is that they’ve given this gimmick to Shelton when
they could really go to town doing something like this with
Eugene. Fast match ended with a T-Bone for the BenjaWin.
Ashley beat Torrie. I wasn’t bored
because this was the Worst Case Scenario of what can go
wrong in a wrestling match. They need to get these girls
some real, hard-core training.

A
phone book would have been more impressive...

Vince called out Shawn Michaels for his
retirement. Vince brought out the Spirit Squad for some
reason. Shawn came out and said that he was hard to work
with (duh) and that he didn’t want it to end like
that. Vince ordered him to sign the papers and Shawn refused
and tore the papers up. Vince slapped him and left. This
was at least a well thought-out angle, even if it wasn’t
that good.
Well, it seems that they have really gotten
behind RVD because he pinned Chris Masters clean with a
Rolling Thunder and a Five Star Frog Splash. This wasn’t
a bad match, in fact it was pretty darn watchable, but RVD
still isn’t back in ring form yet.
Trish’s date Jack was set-up by Mickie
James to get arrested. This is a weird angle and I’m
not sure if it really makes sense.
Edge
and John Cena had a fine little match with Mick Foley as
the ref. Cena actually seems to be working on his work,
as he used a Fisherman’s Suplex and a Flying Body
Press for near falls. He’s getting better, though
he’s still not crisp. Edge was really good. You could
almost say that Edge carried him to a really good match,
but one of the reasons why I thought this was better was
that Edge wasn’t really carrying Cena, but Cena was
working with him. Edge’s offense was the best part
of the match.
The
crowd started getting into it with the main event. Good
ending as Edge hit Cena with the belt, but Cena kicked out.
Edge then went for a Crossbody off the Top, but Cena caught
him and turned it into an FU for the win. It was pretty,
but it got a reaction.
I’d
say it was worth seeing.
