Falls Count Anywhere

It's not like being gruntled
is all that, either...

Welcome to Falls Count Anywhere! My name is Chris and I’m certainly disgruntled.

SmackDown!
I’m very upset. The way they’ve been using Eddie’s death is disgusting. I didn’t mind it being brought up at the Rumble every five minutes, but having Randy Orton say that ‘Eddie’s in Hell’ was just too much. The sad thing is, that little tidbit soured what would have been a good SmackDown!.

Rey gave a Hell of a promo that ended up with Randy Orton coming out and saying that Rey wasn’t in a position to headline Mania and he wanted a chance to take the shot away from him. He said the "Eddie’s in Hell" line and the boos that came were huge and heavy and angry. The closest I’ve ever heard to that reaction was 1980s Memphis when Lawler would be ‘injured’ by the heel of the month. Rey jumped Orton.

MNM and the MexiCools had a fun little match that I liked, but I was still soured on the entire show. The MexiCools did a sweet combination standing Moonsault/Legdrop on Mercury. They were flying all over the place. At one point, Nitro was pulled out of the corner as Psicosis went for a dropkick. MNM took over and did a Vertical Suplex and they just went to town. Psicosis managed to make the tag to Crazy and he was close to getting the victory with the Tornado DDT, but Melina hit him with the boot and that give MNM the win. Strong match. They may rebuild MNM yet.

JBL was doing an interview saying that he didn’t want to face a freak like the Boogeyman and that his opponents should have a certain look. This brought out Bobby Lashley, which led JBL to slowly back out of the ring. Lashley took on Chad Dick and it was a squash, but Lashley looked really good. He used a release German Suplex and a Press Slam on the other Dick. Dominator won it for Lashley, but after the match JBL gave him the Clothesline from Hell.

There was a mini match which was fun. I like the minis and I hope they use them once in a while as slightly more than filler.

jelly doughnut comin'...

Undertaker came out to a big pop, though it might have been sweetened. Angle came in and faced off with UT. Angle did a good promo talking about how he and ‘taker were the same as they both had no soul once that bell rang. The lights went out and Angle disappeared. I’m betting he went into that dimension where Homer ended up destroying the universe on The Simpsons.

Kennedy planted the seeds of his feud with Benoit by saying that he’d been on a losing streak lately. Kennedy said a little bird told him who his opponent was. Benoit said to never talk to him again and slapped him on his injured side. Nice to see Kennedy being taken care of.

Booker was at commentary while Benoit took on Fit Finlay. Sweet! These two had some classics in WCW and Europe. This was a stiff match, as all of Fit’s are, and it was probably the best we’re gonna get in the way for European Wrestlin’ in the US right now. Benoit gave Triple Germans, and the two swapped chops and European Uppercuts. They worked like they always do, and Booker interfered, causing the DQ that gave Benoit the win. The Book and Fit then beat on Benoit after the match. These two should have a feud that goes on for ages and ages. Boogeyman then scared off Booker and Sharmell.

William Regal and Paul Burchill decided to break-up their team and Burchill said that he wanted to be a Pirate. OK, that’s not quite how it happened, he said that his family tree contained a number of pirates, but it’s obvious where it’s heading. Pirates are big again since the release of the Janine/Jesse Jane porn title Pirates.

Mark Henry has found a way to have a tolerable match. His match with Randy Orton vs. Rey and Angle was pretty good. Orton and Rey worked together a lot, since Henry is still limited and Angle’s recovering. Lots of solid work here, especially with Mysterio doing his thing.

The heels took over during the second half, especially with Rey and Orton doing all sorts of great stuff, including hitting the Wheelbarrow Bulldog that I love so much. They had Angle chase Daivari into the crowd and then Henry followed, leaving Rey with Orton. Rey went for a Sunset Flip and Orton sat down to get the pin. Good stuff. They then had Orton say that Rey has as much chance of winning the title at Mania as Eddie has coming back to life.

Wow. That sucks.

The show was marred, but I have to say that the wrestling was better than average and they are trying too hard with Orton. He’s already a serious heel and bringing Eddie up is only going to hurt those who were close to him. The management, and especially creative, has lost a lot of respect from the boys due to the handling of this angle and it’s only going to get worse until the ratings start to show it. Then they’ll refocus as they always do.

RAW...
