Welcome back to Fanboy on Kickstarter, the column that tries to clue you into the can't-miss fanboy fantastic opportunities in the world of crowd sourcing. I only publish when I can find products that meet two simple criteria 1) I've actually invested in the project and 2) I think it's a unique, valuable, and inexpensive project for Fanboys to similarly fund. Sorry I didn't write about this sooner, I've been in the land of Doctor Who and Guinness Stout for the last few weeks. However I wanted to let you know about this amazing Kickstarter, already having exceeded it's goals so it will ship, and... well, let's just get to it.
Pack O Games - Seven Fit-In-Your-Pocket Card Games

Has there been a Kickstarter where the stretch goals were... more games? Never to my knowledge.
And if that wasn't enough, these are fresh, unique, and extremely portable games, each one the size of a pack of gum.
The Kickstarter started out with four games; HUE a color area building game, TKO a boxing game, GEM a jewel collecting and bidding game, and FLY a dexterity game where you try to swat "just the right" set of flies. With each stretch goal, another game was added, so now TAJ, LIE, and BUS are added to the awards that backers will get. Two remaining games, SHH and a mystery game are still to be unlocked.
I've had the pleasure of playing three of these, and look forward to playing the other four based on what I've seen already.

What's key here is that you can have these games with you anywhere, anytime. And teaching them is easy. In fact, here's a 3 minute video that will teach you to play HUE.

Chris handy has designed and published several games over the last 15 years. Some of his titles include "Long Shot" (Z-Man) and "Cinque Terre" (Rio Grande Games.) A champion of 'Gateway Games', he has helped spread the joy of games by founding GatePlay.com, a board game retail site focused on new gamers.
This is Chris's first Kickstarter project, but we're confident with his design and web-based retail experience he'll be successful. |
