Two Intriguing Games for the Fanboy Comic Loving Gamer this Week
Welcome back to Fanboy on Kickstarter, the column that tries to clue you into the can't-miss fanboy fantastic opportunities in the world of crowd sourcing. I only publish when I can find products that meet two simple criteria 1) I've actually invested in the project and 2) I think it's a unique, valuable, and inexpensive project for Fanboys to similarly fund. For more information, check out the archive!
Before we get into this week's Kickstarter recommendations, a reminder about the Batkid Begins documentary now seeking funding on IndieGogo. If you haven't read Derek McCaw's article on the project, here's a quick link to that. It's a really worthy project, so consider giving to Batkid Begins.
Now, let's get into this week's recommendations with a Wolfrider surprise.
Elfquest Adventure Game
Funding Ends August 12, 2014
The original Elfquest comic back in the '80's had a role playing game and several board games brought to comic fans by West End Games. Wendy and Richard Pini have brought Elfquest back to comics
and it's only appropriate that we get a new game too! The Official Elfquest Adventure Game is a cooperative card game for 1-4 players. In cooperative games, everyone either wins or loses together against situations the game throws at the players.
Nearly two years in development by Cheeky Dingo Entertainment, The Official Elfquest Adventure Game is now looking for Kickstarter support..
Card play brings seven of the main Elfquest characters out to team up and accomplish feats, face dangers, and basically quest about. Let's listen to Layman Kingsford
explain more.
This is a starter set, and the hope is that they'll eventually bring you all the characters from the original series as supplements. But for the moment, this is a basic game that plays 1-4; yes, that means solitaire play is supported.
OK, now we've got a sense of the game. Let's look at the stats, because that's what we do here!

Core Worlds Digital!
Funding Ends August 6, 2014
The original paper card game Core Worlds came out in 2011 and has a very high 7.33 rating on Boardgame Geek. This digital version will make this popular science fiction card game that much more portable and provide you with lots of variations on play.
A deck-building game where you take on one of the several uniquely powered Barbarian Kingdoms, slowly growing in power until you challenge and defeat some number of core worlds in the ancient Galactic Realm, there's plenty of science fiction them packed into a few decks of cards.
Let's listen to BrokenMyth Studios pitch the product.
Make no mistake: this is a game of combat, world crushing, screaming jets and ground-pounding troops. Of course, that's what's going on when you're building a killer deck and capturing increasingly more difficult planets to add their diversity to your power.
The art in the paper version is beautiful and is being reused for this digital version.
So let's learn more about the project itself.
