Your
Gaming Platform Is About To Suffer
A Series Of Unfortunate Events...
I
might not have pegged this one as a story ripe for gaming,
but I forgot the rules of 21st Century multi-media: EVERYTHING
is ripe for gaming.
And
now that I've looked at the screenshots (from all platforms
except GBA), it makes sense. A good game based on the Lemony
Snicket movie would have lots of puzzles and problems to
solve, because that's what the Baudelaire orphans have to
do in the books. There should be lots of action, too, and
only time will tell how much mugging from a virtual Jim
Carrey there actually is in the game.
From
Activision:
In Lemony
Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events,? fans follow
the Baudelaire orphans as their luck goes from awfully bad
to incredibly worse. Based on the popular book series and
the upcoming movie starring Jim Carrey, this treacherous
tale allows players to experience the eccentric adventures
of Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire. Gameplay combines
the unique talents of all three orphans to keep them one
step ahead of their distant uncle, the evil Count Olaf,
who’ll stop at nothing to get his greedy hands on
their family fortune.
KEY
FEATURES:
• Be The Baudelaires—The player can switch between
the three Baudelaire orphans throughout the game, playing
as Violet the inventor, Klaus the brave intellect, or as
Sunny, the biting baby. Some missions are designed to take
advantage of a specific character’s abilities.
•
Invent To Prevail—The orphans will gather objects
throughout the adventure to build ingenious inventions for
solving tricky puzzles or for fending off Olaf’s creepy
cohorts – a word which here means people who are dreadful
enough to consider Count Olaf a friend. Inventions include
the Bopper to clear enemies from your path, the Stilts to
maneuver through toxic goop and the Booster for jet-powered
jumping.
•
Vanquish The Villains—Defeat Count Olaf and his wicked
henchmen who assume many disguises in their never-ending
pursuit of the Baudelaire orphans and their family fortune.
•
Experience The Adventures—Players will engage in over
17 different missions based on the adventures from the movie
and the first three books; exploring Count Olaf’s
mysterious mansion, navigating Uncle Monty’s intricate
hedge maze and racing from Aunt Josephine’s rickety
house before it plummets into Lake Lachrymose.
