A Look
at Aquaman: The Game
Oh,
sure, some people still ask why the JLA should even bother
looking for Aquaman. But clearly, the people at TDK Mediactive
think there's something to the guy, working on a game to appear
on both the XBox and Gamecube. What would it take to get a
PS2 version? I'm always adopting the wrong technology.
Is
it the flowing beard? The hook for a hand? Or just maybe somebody
needed to take Ecco The Dolphin down a peg or two.
Anyway,
though we can't expect the actual game to appear in stores
until November (suspiciously timed with DC's Aquaman #1 --
or vice versa), we can take a look at some of the artwork,
thanks to TDK Mediactive leaking it to the press last month.
The
game itself features both scrolling fighting and first-person
shooter aspects, depending on the nature of the threat. In
addition to screenshots from the XBox version of the game,
you can take a look at the sketch and model sheets for the
main villain, Black Manta. In the comics, he's not so threatening,
easily taken down by Green Arrow. But on a gaming platform...
Granted,
some of this has appeared on gaming sites already, and in
the pages of Wizard. But we figured, if you're coming to this
site and reading comics, there's still a high likelihood that
you're also playing videogames. And personally, I tend to
play the games that are comics-related. So in our ongoing
effort to reach the well-rounded geek, we present this toe
in the water of game coverage...
