Cartoon Network Declares the DC NATION!

This morning Cartoon Network held their upfront announcements, and in a move that should please fans of their shows set in the DC Universe, the network unveiled... DC Nation. But they're not alone!

According to the network's press release, DC Nation will be

.. a multi-platform, branded block of original programming and exclusive content based on the DC Comics library of legendary character properties, DC Nation is developed in partnership with Cartoon Network, Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment. The all-new venture will harness the publishing, theatrical and television assets together for one powerful on-air block on Cartoon Network with exclusive online content.

Sounds rather exciting, doesn't it? Shows we know will be part of DC Nation are the already broadcasting Young Justice (currently featured in McDonald's Happy Meals and front and center in my son's imagination), Batman: Brave and the Bold (another season? Why yes, I think I will have one, thank you) and the as yet unseen but eagerly awaited Green Lantern: the Animated Series. Officially, Cartoon Network describes that thusly:

Based upon the DC Comics super hero, the series is an all-new CG animated action series from Warner Bros. As Earth’s Green Lantern, Hal Jordan is used to being in dangerous situations—but he’s never faced anything like this! Set at the farthest reaches of deep space, Hal must face down an invasion from the Red Lantern Corps. Hal is soon joined by an all-new group of heroes on a mission to protect Guardian Space —and the Green Lantern Corps itself!

So that's an hour and a half -- a good block needs to be at least two hours, right? What else could be brewing? With the images on the logo below, could we be getting a new Wonder Woman animated series? A new Flash? Ladies and Gentlemen, start the wild and baseless speculation now!

In addition to the DC Nation block, the network announced a series based on How to Train Your Dragon, which could be fun. They also have an as yet unnamed Ben 10 series (the show evolves as Ben gets older) coming, and many previously broadcast series including the surprisingly clever Scooby Doo: Mystery, Inc.
