Justice
League:
News From The Watchtower...
New
Episodes in February 2006!
All
the up-to-date Justice League Unlimited news here!
For
those of you breathlessly awaiting the next batch of Justice
League episodes (and Michael Goodson's terribly insightful
analysis), we have good news and bad news.
First
the bad news. There will be no more episodes of Justice
League. Now the good news: it's because the third season
is now Justice League Unlimited, a nice Cartoon Network-safe
way of saying that the entire DC Universe is now wide open
for animated adaptation.
Starting
in August of 2004, this new/old series will still be anchored
by the core group of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Green
Lantern. (I'm guessing this means that between now and then,
the final episode of the second season will air and at least
one old Leaguer will be eliminated.) But in addition, semi-regulars
promise to include Supergirl, Green Arrow and The Atom.
To make
sure we all stay rabid, Cartoon Network threw out even more
possibilities. Heroes like Booster Gold, Hawk & Dove (hopefully
not the lame punk ones), Elongated Man (if Identity Crisis
kills him off, this will be very awkward), The Question, Red
Tornado, Black Canary, Firestorm and Zatanna, who already
has appeared on Batman: The Animated Series.
Also
promised are Big Barda and Mister Miracle. Since at one time
Bruce Timm badly wanted to do a New Gods series, or
at least a direct-to-video movie, this could wedge a foot
in the door for that concept. Looking at it from that point
of view, Justice League Unlimited could be Backdoor
Pilots Unlimited.
In addition,
Cartoon Network is developing a new series with Green
Arrow and Outsiders writer Judd Winick, The
Life and Times of Juniper Lee. That's currently slated
for February, 2005. Be alert, Winick fans.
