Animate Me: The Shorts Program
Sunday night, the Oscar for Best Animated Short Subject went to a Belgian project called "Mr. Hublot." Most people probably had not seen it, but Chris Garcia had -- because he'd selected it as part of Cinequest's Shorts Program, Animate Me. With a title reminiscent of Jacques Tati's Mr. Hulot, this poignant short explains what happens when an OCD mechanical man opens his clockwork heart to a mechanical dog. It's pretty cool.
