Marvel Brings The Hype To ABC:
Special Marvel Studios: Assembling A Universe Airs March 18

Is Kevin Feige the new Walt Disney?

Yes, you read that right. To us, the writers and readers of not just Fanboy Planet but a variety of other sites, this may show us nothing we did not already know. We eat, breathe, and sleep this stuff. But there's this whole world out there that looks to us to tell them about it. And of course, we'll be glued to the television, too.
Just like the old days of The Wonderful World of Disney, we're getting a one-off special purporting to take us behind the scenes at the Magic Factory, only now that factory is that of the House of Ideas -- Marvel Studios.
On March 18th from 8 to 9 p.m. (7 central), Marvel Studios will show us just how they go about... Assembling A Universe.
According to their press release, the one-hour special will cover how they got started, how they came up with their plans, and various other things the fanpeople already know from obsessively watching extras. However, this special also promises new footage from Captain America: The Winter Soldier (opening April 4, 2014 -- but you already knew that, right? Unless you're British then you get it March 26, but maybe don't get to see this special. Nyaah.).
Then they will show new footage from Guardians of the Galaxy, of which, of course, precious little outside the trailer has been seen. But here's the kicker:
...a sneak peek at the upcoming Marvel’s “The Avengers: Age of Ultron.” |
That could be very little beyond Joss Whedon saying, "yup, it's going to be fun" while Robert Downey, Jr. attempts to give him a wet willy, but... it's something.
Of course, we will also see glimpses into the future of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and, if I am to go into speculation mode, we might hope that future includes something solid about Agent Carter as a series.
The show will be broadcast ..."in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format with a 5.1 channel surround sound." It has not yet been rated for parental guidance but they should make it child safe. After all, they want the kids to buy the action figures.
Meanwhile, over on CW, DC Entertainment has a special entitled DC Studios: Assembling A LEGO Kit Featuring Batman.
