Citizens of Los Angeles…
Have Courage!
Commander Courage, that is, though you may favor Codename:
Courage yourselves.
For all of you waiting for the release of Comic Book: The Movie at the end of January, the Los Angeles Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention has a treat for you this weekend.
On Sunday, January 11, at 2 p.m., Producer Scott Zakarin (and director of Jekyll) will be hosting a panel of cast members from Comic Book: The Movie on Sunday. Among those attending will be Donna D'errico (Liberty Lass), Jess Harnell, Debi Derryberry, and Roger Rose. This will be the last convention appearance before the film's release to DVD, and if you were not lucky enough to catch these guys in San Diego or Las Vegas (where Ms. D'errico did not, unfortunately, attend), believe us, it's a fun time.
The Los Angeles Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention occurs monthly at the Shrine Auditorium Expo Center, 700 West 32nd Street in Los Angeles. It's a great gathering for fans and dealers, with hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, check out their website here.
If you live in L.A., the news gets even better. Next Wednesday, January 14, will see two advance public screenings of Comic Book: The Movie, times to be determined, at Laemmle's Sunset 5 on the fabled Sunset Strip. We'll let you know the times as soon as we know.

Filmed on location at the San Diego ComicCon in 2002, Comic Book: The Movie marks the directorial debut of Mark Hamill. Also starring Hamill and a who's who of animation voice-over actors, the film chronicles one fan's attempt to keep Hollywood from ruining his favorite superhero. Perhaps we should study it for pointers.
The film features a bevy of cameo appearances from cult figures and giants of the industry alike. Kevin Smith, Hugh Hefner, and legendary comedian Sid Caesar all appear, as do Bruce Campbell, Jonathan Winters, and a few actors from a galaxy far, far away. For a Fanboy Planet exclusive clip, you can visit here to see Stan The Man expound upon the role of the sidekick in comic book history.
If you haven't pre-ordered your copy yet, please, feel free to click on the ad up right now and call us shameless whores later. If we sell 100 copies, we get a lock of Jess Harnell's hair.
