The
New Resident of the Batcave:
Christian Bale To Wear The Cowl
|
Can you
see him as The Dark Knight?
Director Christopher Nolan can.

Christopher
Nolan (Insomnia) directing.
David
Goyer (Blade, JSA) writing.
And now...we
have our Bruce Wayne.
According
to a Warner Brothers announcement today, British actor Christian
Bale (American Psycho, Reign of Fire) has been cast
in the next Batman film, which will either take place before
the others in the series, or let's be honest, simply ignore
those that came before.
It's a
whole new franchise, with a fresh start, a slightly younger
take on Batman than the earlier films, and really, an excellent
choice.
While
rumors of Joshua Jackson and Ashton Kutcher had me ready to
vomit, Bale seemed a dark horse candidate (in studio-think).
Thankfully,
Warner Brothers seems eager to follow the model set by Avi
Arad and Marvel Studios, by actually finding the right guy
for the role and letting the material be the selling point.
It helps that they're trusting a director other than Joel
Schumacher, too.
"What
I see in Christian is the ultimate embodiment of Bruce Wayne,"
Nolan commented in the official press release. "He has
exactly the balance of darkness and light that we were looking
for."
Filming
is scheduled to begin early next year after, of course, the
rest of the cast is in place.
If I could
do backflips, I actually might over this one.
