Captain America: "I'm Going To Disneyland"
Oh, maybe we can call this an easy prediction to have made, but quite honestly, I'm just danged excited to have been right so I can take my kid to Disneyland for this.
Last Spring, just before the opening of Iron Man 3, Starktech Expo opened in a corner of Innoventions in Tomorrowland. Similar to the display of Iron Man armor that fans at Comic-Con had seen the summer before, the exhibit was a smash success, even though not widely advertised. And really, if you don't know you're looking for it, you might not find it.
Originally Disneyland spokespeople said the Iron Man exhibit would disappear in the Fall, to make room for a Thor meet and greet. But they either lied then or just wised up, because in November, the Treasures of Asgard exhibit occupied a space next to the Stark Tech exhibit, thus renewing interest in the Innoventions Pavilion.
So logically, let's just keep adding to it, quietly bringing Marvel characters into Disneyland in the only place they logically fit: Tomorrowland. And it's going to host one more Avenger -- the first one.
Sometime in March to tie in with the April 4 release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America will start greeting fans next to the Treasures of Asgard exhibit. At the moment, we don't know what his setting will be, but as they've been keeping up a good "story" that this is a museum, I would bet that there will be relics from Cap's days in World War II -- maybe the original USO uniform and shield, and pieces from that first Stark Expo back in 1942. (Oh, man... show us the android that could be the Human Torch!)
Does this mean that in the summer we're going to get The Guardians of the Galaxy? We'll have to wait and see if the people on Marvel Cinematic Earth will know about them.
In other news for those in Florida, Disney broke ground on Avatar World today, too. So it's time to practice our patience. A lot of exciting things are happening.
