Two New DC Series Confirmed For TV
 While we may be down one if NBC chooses not to renew Constantine, we're gaining two comic book based series for the 2015-2016 television season. (I'm not sure yet if we get to say for the Fall -- one may be a mid-season.)
First, yesterday CBS announced that the pilot for Supergirl was impressive enough for a full season order, so star Melissa Benoist will continue on as Kara Zor-El, the last daughter of Krypton.
The series sees Kara a little older than usually portrayed (but also more fair to Benoist), as a 24-year-old young woman following in her cousin's footsteps as a reporter and a superhero. Former Ally McBeal Calista Flockhart supports Benoist as Catherine Grant, also a little older than usually portrayed, but now hopefully more powerful and assured than the way Cat Grant has been in comics and previously on television in Smallville.
This one may be a bit of a police procedural, sort of Krypton meets (Veronica) Mars, but it could be good. How the series will handle the existence of Superman has not yet been revealed, but we have to assume that he does somehow exist. So far, though, it sounds like despite fan hopes, this will not cross over with the CW's superhero block, despite sharing an executive producer in Greg Berlanti.
...and Berlanti is one busy producer, as his superhero block over on the CW just officially grew by one.
In addition to seeing Arrow and The Flash renewed for fourth and second seasons respectively, Berlanti gets the next spin-off, Legends of Tomorrow, officially on the schedule for 2015-2016. You can get a bit of a preview on next week's episode of The Flash, as a few of the cast members will be guesting there.
 Legends of Tomorrow (I'm still thinking the name might change) features Firestorm (Robbie Amell as Ronnie Raymond and Victor Garber as Professor Martin Stein), The Atom (Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer), Hawkgirl (Cierra Renee as Kendra Saunders), Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill as, well, Rip Hunter), and Black Canary (Caity Lotz as Sara Lance).
Actor Franz Drameh has been listed as a regular cast member, though his character does not seem to directly correlate with an established comics one.
In addition, Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell are in the cast as Captain Cold and Heatwave, but my suspicions are that those Flash Rogues will have a malleable position between the two series. I'm all for them occasionally serving the side of the angels, but it's awfully early in their development to get there.
Besides, they both play villains so well.
And if we have Rip Hunter, Time Master, will we see a Booster Gold as well? Only time will tell.
No word yet on the long-promised Titans pilot in development at TNT. If that comes to fruition, DC will dominate broadcast television while Marvel still seems to own Netflix.
