Hatter M Returns, With Your Help!

To be honest, we play favorites. And we think that's a good thing.

It's how you, dear reader, know we're sincere in our recommendations. We really do read all these books and comics, sometimes we know and enjoy the company of the creators, and we pass them along to you with the hope that you'll enjoy them as well.

Frank Beddor is such a favorite.

There are a lot of Alice in Wonderland revamps out there for you to spend your money on. Many are good, more are bad. However, #1 on our good list would be Frank Beddor's The Looking Glass Wars and associated works. His trilogy is excellent, great characters, wonderful situations, and so many surprises that aren't just the author being "clever" in changing up familiar characters.

Frank did one other cool thing in writing the books. In the first book of his prose trilogy, he left a sub-story untold. These are the adventures of Hatter Madigan, AKA Hatter M, on our Earth. And to fill in that gap, he used comics. Seems appropriate, since from the beginning the formation of his story, the early works were all highly supplemented with posters, cards, and other wonderful art backing up the prose.

The initial Hatter M graphic novel, Far from Wonder, was originally told in individual issues, with writer Liz Cavalier and art by the amazing Ben Templesmith. This was followed up by Mad with Wonder and The Nature of Wonder, with astonishing art by Sami Makkonen. Like the Trilogy, these are fun, creative and very hard to put down.

So, trilogy of books, trilogy of graphic novels, what to do next.

The fourth book in the trilogy of graphic novels of course! And you can be part of it.

Earlier this week, Frank launched a Kickstarter project for Hatter M: Zen of Wonder. If you're not familiar with Kickstarter, it's where you the general public can directly support artists and other creatives get their work published. Typically that means you have early access to the new publication, as well as plenty of extras for the taking. In this case, you can pledge to help get Zen of Wonder published, and at the same time get all of the prior works to enjoy!

We recommend it.

But that's enough of us gushing, it's getting a little embarrassing. Follow this link so Frank can tell you himself.
