Survivor
Series: Fantasy Booking
11/19/01
Welcome to another Fantasy Booking of a
WWF pay per view. This month we take a look at Survivor Series 2001.
The goal here is to use the same wrestlers and concepts, but tweak them
a bit to make the event more enjoyable. I never add crazy stipulations
like the main event show have been a war games match or Shawn Michaels
and Ric Flair should return. This is just a simple matter of adjusting
the buildup and booking. Let's get to it.
Tajiri vs. Billy Kidman (for the
Cruiser Weight Title)
I outlined this feud in Book
It two weeks ago. Read that if you haven't yet. This would be the
pay off match, but rather than having Torrie turn on the PPV I'd would
have had her do it on Raw last Monday. Since she announced her engagement
to Billy Kidman on Howard Stern Tuesday, it only makes sense to do that.
Solid opener between two great cruiser weights. Kidman wins, gets to
nail Torrie and begins his climb of the WWF ladder.
8 Man Immunity Battle Royal Cage Match
There were two things I didn't like about the Immunity Battle Royal
last night. One was that as soon as Test won, you knew that the WWF
would win the main event, thus making Test's immunity important. The
other is that giant Battle Royals are very dull to watch until it gets
down to the last few men. I've changed this match to a cage match with
fewer men with the stipulation that the first two men out of the cage
are given immunity. The contestants are William Regal, Tazz, DDP, Tommy
Dreamer, Bradshaw, Faarooq, Al Snow, Perry Saturn. Tazz and Bradshaw
would be my winners. Tazz needs a reason to stay on commentary and Bradshaw
deserves a singles push.

Ivory vs. Molly vs. Trish vs. Lita vs.
Jackie vs. a Mystery Opponent (Jazz) for the vacant Women's Title
The only thing I'd change about this match is I'd have Ivory win rather
than Trish. Ivory gives much better interviews and is a better wrestler
than Trish. Of course if the belt is just meant to go to whoever has the
best T&A, then Trish wins hands down.
Dudleys vs. Hardys vs. Chavo Guerrero
& Hugh Morris for the Unified Tag Titles
We've seen the Dudleys vs. Hardys so many time that there should be
a ban on the two teams even being in the same ring together. But if
you need to have a title unification match, then they deserve it. Guerrero
and Morris are added so that they can fight for the chance to get their
jobs back in either the WWF or Alliance. However, the results are the
same with Dudleys winning the titles and Matt Hardy teasing a future
heel turn. Guerrero and Morris go right back to being fired.
Edge vs. Test for the Unified US/Intercontinental
Title
When I outlined this column in my head a few days before the PPV, I'd
swapped Test with Lance Storm. Storm has been way underutilized in the
WWF and I thought he needed to get back in the title hunt. However,
Test and Edge had such a surprisingly good match last night that I've
changed my mind. Same match, same finish, good job booking team.
Main Event
Team WWF (Rock, Chris Jericho, Undertaker,
Kane, and Big Show) vs. Team Alliance (Steve Austin, Kurt Angle,
Rob Van Dam, Booker T, and Shane McMahon)
I'd change one thing going in to this match and that is that Chris Jericho
would still be the WCW World Champ. You'll see why in a second. Once all
10 men get to the ring, they have a stare down. Vince McMahon enters from
the ramp, gets on the microphone and says "I guaranteed you all that tonight
a member of Team Alliance would join Team WWF. That member has been working
for me for the last few months. He has done everything I've asked of him
and he deserves your cheers rather than your boos. I would like that member
to now join Team WWF and help put the final nail in the coffin of The
Alliance." Team Alliance all look at Steve Austin, but it's Kurt Angle
that crosses the ring and shakes hands with all the Team WWF members.
But while the crowd is going nuts, Chris Jericho removes his WCW World
Belt, hits Kurt Angle with it and then joins Team Alliance. Match starts.
Eliminations happen as follows: Shane is eliminated by Big Show. Big Show
eliminated by Booker. Kane eliminated by Jericho. Booker eliminated by
Undertaker. Rob Van Dam eliminated by Kurt Angle. Undertaker eliminated
by Steve Austin. Taker hits Austin with a chair and Rock eliminates Austin.
That leaves Jericho and Rock as the last two. Rock pins Jericho and Team
WWF wins.
Next night on Raw A few things
happen the next night on Raw to set up future feuds.
Vince McMahon walks to the ring to start
of Raw and gloat. He thanks Kurt Angle for being his spy. Undertaker
interrupts Vince's speech to say that he's pissed off that in order
to prove himself to the Alliance Kurt Angle interfered in his title
shot against Austin a month ago on Smackdown. Vince tells Taker he's
sorry, but he asked Kurt to do that so the Alliance would believe Kurt
had turned his back on the WWF. Taker wants payback anyway and Vince
books a Taker vs. Angle match later in the show.
Rock comes to the ring later in the show
and talks about how much he enjoyed kicked Jericho's traitorous ass
last night to win the main event. Jericho interrupts the speech. He
is in the crowd with a microphone and his WCW World Title belt. Jericho
congratulates the Rock on his win at Survivor Series, but says that
The Rock was never able to beat Jericho for the WCW World Title and
now he never will. Rock tells Jericho to "just bring it." Jericho tells
Rock that he can't just bring it because he's not in the WWF anymore
and he leaves. As the weeks go by Jericho antagonizes Rock from the
stands until the Rock finally demands from Vince that Jericho be let
back in to the WWF so Rock can beat his ass. Vince agrees just so that
he can get a hold of the WCW belt and kill the last piece of WCW.
Austin still has the WWF World Belt so
he is immune from firing, but he now no longer has The Alliance to back
him up. He becomes a loner, defending the title as infrequently as possible.
As weeks and months pass, Austin grows back in to his loner mentality,
doesn't trust anyone and we can see the return of the old bad ass Stone
Cold personality. What? We can see the return of the old bad ass Stone
Cold personality. This sets him up as the face in time for HHH's return
and their inevitable match at Wrestlemania.
