Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday we give you the scoop on what's
happening in and out of the wrestling ring. Somedays it's even funny!

Raw Thoughts
You ever leave a soda on your desk overnight and the next day, out
of habit, you pick it up and take a swallow? That's what Raw reminded
me of Monday night. At first I thought it was the Baton Rouge crowd.
They were almost asleep during Kurt Angle's opening promo. The Rock
comes out to a huge pop, but then the crowd goes back to sleep. The
WWF didn't help themselves much by having Stone Cold's big mystery
return spoiled by the use of a fax machine. I'm really hoping that
Paul Heyman and the Alliance are faking the faxes because they really
don't know where Stone Cold is. Next Molly makes her big heel turn
on Spike from an angle that started on Smackdown (way to build, writers).
Before anyone can feel sorry for Spike, Big Show is there to offer
his condolences and promises to take Spike out for a night on the
town during Smackdown. Can you smell a series of lame comedy segments
coming on Thursday? High point of the night had to be Edge's shoot/work
promo on X-pac and Christian. While funny, it's pretty sad that that
was the most memorable thing out of two hours of sports enter…I mean,
wrestling. Last, when Vince McMahon fought in matches, you knew he
was going to get his salad tossed because he's not a wrestler. Why
is it that Shane is a legitimate threat to the WWF title? I vote nepotism.
Ratings
Monday night's WWF Raw drew a 4.4 rating, down 0.1 from last night,
the lowest rating since June 18. Raw has not drawn a rating at or
above 5.0 since Aug. 20. It's time for a serious change. The "Tough
Enough" finale on Thursday drew a 2.5 rating, the highest rating for
the show. Saturday's Excess drew a typical 0.7 and Sunday's Heat drew
a 1.6 rating, up from last week's 1.4.
Smackdown
Easter Egg
Rob Van Dam has a match with Kurt Angle this Thursday on Smackdown.
During the match Rob mistakenly busts open Kurt Angle's chin. Angle
is the third WWF wrestler in the last month to be busted open by Van
Dam with a potato shot (the others being Chris Jericho and Steve Austin).
Van Dam had a similar reputation for landing potato shots when he
worked for ECW. Careful Rob. You don't want that main event push to
end because you can't be trusted with the pretty wrestlers, do you?
Big Show,
Put the Pizza Down
The WWF conducted weigh-ins for the wrestlers Monday and Tuesday.
This is a message to the wrestlers to stay in shape. With the poor
economy and wrestling interest on a down turn, no one in the WWF locker
room can afford to look expendable.
The One, The
Rock
I've been sitting on this for a few months now, but Jet Li has a new
film called The One coming out November 2nd. When I was down
in San Diego for the 2001 comics convention, I sat in on a preview
of the film and the filmmakers mentioned that the film was originally
offered to the Rock. The Rock, or the WWF, turned the part down in
favor of The Scorpion King. Jet Li was then cast and they rewrote
the script to add all the kung fu hooey. If you catch the film in
November, be sure and look for the part when Jet Li says to the villain
"do you like pie?"
See you Friday.
