Unforgiven Thoughts
I'm never sure if this a good thing or a bad thing, but the WWF delivered exactly what we expected from them last night: a strong show with a few low spots. To the surprise of no one, the Kronic vs. Taker and Kane match was the worst of the night, but at least it ended the feud (I hope). Match of the night was a tie between the Rob Van Dam vs. Jericho match and the main event. With Angle winning the title, I hope that Austin has a brief feud with RVD. It would be a nice change up from the usual main eventers and be great for both men. Edge and Christian will probably continue their feud since Christian stole the beltlast night. That's fine with me as I enjoy both wrestlers. Tajiri vs. Rhyno was far too short. I know both guys can have a great match when they want to, so I'm not sure if they were not allowed to have a longer match or the WWF just wanted to sell Tajiri's rib injury. I hope that feud continues as well. Finally, The Rock made pansies of Booker T and Shane in his handicap match. I guess it's safe to say that Booker T is not on the top of the list of people the WWF wants to push. Hopefully with strong in ring work and solid promos, Booker can climb out of the hole the WWF has put him in.
Raw Preview
Oh, but hold the phone on that Kurt Angle title win! The WWF-supplied preview to cable/satellite companies asks the question, "Who is the WWF Champion?" That opens up a fresh can of worms as Steve Austin has a legitimate claim to the fact that he was under the ropes last night when he tapped out. Is Kurt Angle the champ? Will there be a rematch tonight on Raw? Tune in, True Believers! Tonight is a big night for the WWF as we should find out where RVD, The Rock, Booker T, Chris Jericho, Stephanie and Shane McMahon are all going as far as their next feud. It looks as if Bradshaw may be getting a singles push against Test. That will be…interesting. Plus, as mentioned last night, tonight is Stephanie McMahon's Birthday so expect to see a whole lot of Stephanie. Ugh.Unforgiven Backstage News
WWF.com reported that HHH was backstage at the PPV last night. He mostly just watched and soaked in the atmosphere. HHH told WWF.com that he has patella tendonitis in his leg, which is a common side effect to a quadriceps tear. This may add a little time to his projected November return. He plans to start running in three weeks. The WWF has offered to send a ring down to Birmingham, AL (where he is rehabbing)so that he can train in it and get back into ring shape. WWF.com also reported that Terri Runnels will be marrying David Essel, a nationally syndicated radio talk show host, author, speaker and lifestyle coach, in early November in Florida. She met him when she signed up for his lifestyle classes. Ray "Big Bossman" Traylor will give away the bride at the wedding. It's only fitting because as many of us know, marriage is just like serving "hard time."X-Pac Slammed
X-Pac was involved in a minor car accident last Monday. He was in heavy traffic on his way to the Minneapolis airport to go to Raw when his car was hit from behind. He went to the doctor with a sore neck and was told to take a week off. He will probably be back tonight on Raw. Thank goodness.Drinking Game
Since tonight's "Birthday" edition of Raw is sure to feature a lot of Stephanie, what better way to spend two hours than by getting hammered? For the purpose of the game, you'll need beer, a mixed drink and a shooter. I'll be playing with Sam Adams, Rum and Coke and Cuervo Gold Tequila as my shooter. Kids, don't try this at home, as this is probably enough alcohol to kill a grown man.
When the show starts, have a drink of beer. Might as well get started early, right? If the opening of the show is an interview, have a drink of beer. If it's a McMahon, have a drink of your cocktail. If the interview segment goes over 20 minutes, have a shot. If The Rock says something funny, have a drink of beer. If The Hurricane says something funny, have a drink of your cocktail. If X-Pac says something funny, slap your forehead, say "no way" and then have a shot. Anytime they show a "Slam of the Week," Moments Ago" or "Rewind" segment of something you've already seen, chug your beer. Any match that ends due to outside interference, have a drink of your cocktail. Any match that ends in a disqualification, have a shot. Any time a wrestler is hit with a chair, have a drink of beer. Any time a wrestler is thrown into the steel steps outside of the ring, have a drink of beer. Any time a wrestler is hit with any other foreign object, have a drink of your cocktail. If anyone mentions baked goods (pie, strudel, stuffed bell peppers) have a drink of your cocktail. If you have that food in your house, have a shot and go eat it. Any time you see a wrestler who has a brother in the WWF (blood or not), have a drink of beer. Any time you see a McMahon, have a drink of your cocktail. Any time you see Tazz, yell "you suck" and go to the bathroom. Any time you see a girl that you'd have sex with, have a drink of beer. If that girl is Lillian Garcia, have a drink of your cocktail. If that girl is Stephanie McMahon, have a shot. If that girl is Chris Jericho, stop drinking. Every time the Undertaker no sells a move for another wrestler, have a drink of beer. Never mind, just chug beer for the entire match. Every time Steve Austin says "what?" have a drink of beer. Every time The Rock says "The Rock" have a drink of your cocktail. Every time Paul Heyman says "J.R., if you lost a few pounds, you'd be a damn sexy man," have a shot. Every time Fanboy Planet editor Michael Goodson says the same thing to co-editor Derek McCaw, have another plate of nachos.
I hope I've come out of my coma by Wednesday. See you then, pretty lady.
