Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday we give you the scoop on what's
happening in and out of the wrestling ring. Somedays it's even funny!

Raw Thoughts
I guess if you were not as anal retentive as I am about wrestling then
the WWF put on a good show Monday night. But a few things were so glaringly
stupid that it kept me from enjoying the show as a whole. First, if
Shane thinks that Torrie is secretly setting Tajiri up for the fall,
why would he tell her so in front of the camera? Shouldn't a secret
plan be a secret? For that matter, why did the announcers pretend they
never saw that conversation when we know they see every other back stage
skit that goes on? To quote The Hurricane, "what's up with that?"
|
"Torrie, is
now a good time to talk to you about your secret plan?"
|
Next, Why would Kronic attack the Undertaker and Kane, make them lose
one of their tag championships and then challenge them to a match? Wouldn't
Kronic want to help 'Taker and Kane win against the Dudleys so that Kronic
could win both belts on Sunday rather than just one? Do the Dudleys deserve
championship gold? They haven't been over in months. Has any WCW wrestler,
since debuting on WWF television, won a match against a WWF wrestler without
outside interference, referee help or low blows? Didn't any of the WCW
wrestlers mention to the WWF writers that the angle with moppy going into
the wood chipper had been done with Paco months ago on Nitro? I realize
no one was watching Nitro then, but still… Finally, is there really a
need for the Alliance to keep invading? Good show, but like most WWF television
lately, it falls apart when you actually think about it.
Tough Enough Reminder
The season finale of Tough Enough was pushed back to next week because
of the Attack On America pre-empting last week's show. This Thursday
we get to see another ½ hour show before the big finish. While my main
pick is Maven, if he doesn't win, I'm totally blaming it on his eyebrows.
DirecTV Update
The WWF and DirecTV have still not come to an agreement over PPV money
division. With Unforgiven now four days away it looks like the WWF will
earn about 20% less as far as PPV buy rates go. With the WWFE stock
recently being downgraded, this can't be good for business.
Smackdown Guests
Jerry "The King" Lawler was backstage at the Smackdown taping last night.
The WWF was in his hometown of Memphis, TN, and Jerry dropped in to
say howdy to some of his old friends (the announcers table, the headset,
the buffet...)
Former ECW wrestler Kid Kash was also
backstage on Raw Monday and I guess the WWF offered to let him have
a try-out match during Smackdown. Kash took on Justin Credible before
taping on Tuesday. Hopefully he can sign a deal with the WWF and help
get their light heavyweight division off the ground (yeah right).

"Is this too
much clothing Mr. McMahon?"
|
Last Thursday's Smackdown scored a 3.6 which is the same number they scored
the week before with their Tuesday night special. Excess was down a tenth
of a point to 0.7 on TNN Saturday. Looks as if the WWF is going to need
to do something with Excess if they want people to start tuning in. May
I suggest that for starters Trish Stratus is only allowed to wear a combined
total of six square inches of clothing per show. Monday Night Raw scored
a 4.8, which is up two-tenths of a point from last week. They are so screwed
next week when all the new shows and Monday Night Football come back on
the air.
See you Friday with a Pay Per View preview
and the new "Fanboy Planet WWF Drinking" game. BYOB.
