Raw Thoughts
With half of the WWF roster on tour in Asia, fans knew going in that
it wasn't going to be a star studded show. It also strikes me as odd
that the writing staff would have Austin eliminated with in the first
fifteen minutes of the show. I guess the NWO needed to get some of their
heel heat back since Austin has been treating them like pansies lately.
Last night was "fan appreciation night"
on Raw (unlike every other show) so let me share with you some of the
things I appreciated.
I appreciated that with half the roster
in Asia we got to see awesome performances by Goldust, Mr. Perfect,
Hip Hop Hippo, Rikishi, Jazz and future WWF world champion Scotty Too
Hotty. I pray that my readership understands that was a joke.
I appreciated that Scotty & Albert fought
Mr. Perfect & Test. This will save me five dollars next year when these
four are wrestling at my local high school gym.
I appreciate the solid booking that the
WWF is doing to build up the Undertaker vs. Ric Flair match at Wrestlemania.
Undertaker may not be able to wrestle very well, but he is a role model
for any wrestler out there that wants to be a heel when they grow up.
I appreciate there was no mention of shampoo
on the show last night, but Stephanie's lotion comes close.
I appreciate the little button on my remote
when called "mute" whenever Stephanie goes in to full shriek mode. The
more the writers play up the Stephanie vs. Hunter relationship, the
more I fell bad for Chris Jericho. Steph should be bringing out Jericho's
mean streak, not making him her whipping boy.
I appreciate the two good matches on the
show last night. Rob Van Dam vs. Storm was a throw back to their old
ECW days. It wasn't as good this time, but I liked it more than I like
watching Chuck and Billy. Kurt Angle and Triple H also added another
page to their history with an excellent cage match. I also appreciate
that Angle won for a change.
Last, I appreciate that no matter what
faults it had, Raw last night was a huge improvement over last weeks
offering.
New WWF CD
The WWF is about to release its first album under its new label SmackDown
Records. called WWF Forceable Entry. The WWF describes it as "killer
tracks performed by a Who's Who of contemporary aggro-rock." Someone
write to me and explain when "heavy metal" became "agro-rock." Highlights
include the first U.S. release of a rare Creed track, Kid Rock doing
a cover of ZZ Top's "Legs," exclusive remixes of Marilyn Manson's "Beautiful
People," Limp Bizkit's "Rollin," Cypress Hill's "Rock Superstar" and
more. WWF Forceable Entry is in stores Tuesday, March 26th. On a side
note, the CD is called Forceable Entry because WWF Hot Carl and WWF
Dry Dock didn't market well with parents.
Bret Hart Considers WWF Return
Someone check the temperature of hell because Bret Hart said in a recent
column that he has considered a return to the WWF. Wrestlemania is being
held in Toronto Canada this year and the WWF contacted Bret about being
on the show. Here is a choice highlights:
"I listened to the offer but found
it offensive the WWF would expect me to so easily dismiss everything
that's happened and parade myself out there giving the impression
to the world that our differences have been worked out. Montreal.
Owen. The manipulated divide-and-conquer derision of the Hart family,
showing no respect to my father or even my poor mother, who died without
seeing any resolution to it. Why would I minimize any of that? Because,
in return, they'd give me access to video footage and still shots.
They own every picture and every inch of film of every match I had
over the last 16 years of my career."
Bret goes on to talk about two previous
conversations he's had with Vince in the last few years and the opportunity
he had to punch Vince in the face last year. It's a really good read
and I suggest you check
it out.
That's it for today. It's been a slow news
week. See y'all on Friday.
