Survivor
Series 2003 Preview
11-13-03
This year's
Survivor Series looks to walk the line. Things could go well
and put out a great show that many will talk about until Mania.
Or things could go bad and we'll have another disappointment
to last until the next RAW PPV. I am banking on something
in-between.
Ambulance
Match - Shane McMahon vs. Kane.
Hey, I know Kane is lifeless occasionally, but Shane always
rises to the moment and bumps like a superball. Expect this
to be brutal, methodical, and end with Shane going for the
ride so he can spend a little time with his pregnant (and
very hot) wife.
Woman's
Title - Lita vs. Molly.
They are fools if they don't give it to Lita to feud with
Gail Kim followed by Victoria. There are ratings in them thar
cleavage. This will probably be the shortest match on the
card, so expect a quick angle beforehand that seems to injure
Lita and then she wins in a miraculous comeback.
World
Heavyweight Title - HHH vs. Goldberg.
This is tough. If they are serious about making something
out of Goldberg, he has to win this. If he was really just
a transitional champ while HHH was getting married, then HHH
takes it back. Fact is, there is more money in seeing Goldberg
feud with Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels, and Kane than in HHH
feuding with Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels and Undertaker (when
he comes back). I think they'll keep it on Goldberg.
A
match that will rule - Los Guerreros vs. The Bashem
Bros.
The Bashems haven't had a real showcase match yet, and they
have had amazing matches in OVW. Eddy and Chavo are always
up for the big matches. I expect this to steal the first half
of the show. Chavo finishes his turn (which seems like it
took longer than El Hijo del Santo's in the mid-90s) and the
Bashems hold on for a feud with Shelton and Charlie.
Buried
Alive - Vince McMahon vs. The Undertaker.
Is there anyone who doesn't know the plan already? Vince buries
UT with the help of his stable of heels and UT comes back
as Old School Taker for one last big score. It's a good formula,
but it makes this match more interesting to see how much damage
Vince allows himself to take than in the outcome. Vince will
bleed, that's for sure.
Team
Bischoff vs. Team Austin.
I don't know. There are so many things that would make sense
here. Randy Orton needs the push, but they can't afford to
lose Austin as a character on-air right now. I'd say that
they should give Team Austin the win, with Orton eliminating
three of the other members before Austin finds a way to interfere
and cost him the match. It would also help in the eventual
turn of Orton so he can feud with HHH. I think Austin's boys
win it.
Team
Lesnar vs. Team Angle.
Honestly, what matters most in this match is the quality and
if Jones and Morgan get reactions. If they do, the match has
done its job. If not, then it's a winter of them jobbing to
nobodies. My guess is that Team Angle wins with Cena pinning
Brock to set up their next feud. It could be the best match
on the card, as Angle, Brock, and Benoit can carry just about
anyone to a good match.
All in
all, I'm going with it being a solid event plus a couple of
surprises.
