No Way
Out is the most stacked Pay-Per-View in ages. Not since SummerSlam
have so many strong programs been built. Here's the rundown.
RVD/Kane
vs. William Regal/Lance Storm for the WWE Tag Team Title
OK, I don't care about this one, but I know people love RVD.
I just can't see a makeshift team holding the belts when the
Dudleys are on RAW, too. I'll say The UnAmericans win this.
Undertaker
vs. Big Show No, no, no…I am not pleased. This will fight
for worst match of the night honors, but I imagine that UT
will bloody up the Big Show, and likely Heyman. Winner is
UT without question.
Test
vs. Chris Jericho Stacey Kiebler getting hit by the chair
set this up, and it could turn into a decent match, as Test
can let himself be carried with the right worker, and Jericho
is like a gurney: great at carrying stiffs. My call would
be Test, mostly because Jericho needs to be positioned for
his match with Michaels at Mania. Now there is word that this
match may be off, mostly because Stacey and Test are in the
doghouse for missing Monday's show. With that in mind, and
if the match still happens, I will say Jericho, because the
WWE tends to punish wrestlers by having the victims drop matches
on Pay Per Views.
Billy
Kidman vs. Matt Hardy I know that Matt is great in the
ring, and now that he has been given a personality he is starting
to catch on. Even when he isn't risking life and limb (the
style that killed his brother's career), he is getting good
reactions. Matt takes the belt, as a run with Mattitude will
lift the title. I could also see an angle where Matt fails
to make weight, they put Shannon Moore in and he wins the
title, which would be cool, but maybe is a bit out there.
Triple
H vs Scott Steiner This match will stink up the place.
I don't see HHH dropping the belt, a combination of ego and
the fact that HHH always seems to go into WrestleMania with
a belt around his waist. The best prediction I can give: Steiner
will look terrible.
Rock
vs. Hogan Yep, the big return and it's not even in the
top spot on a secondary PPV. Rock is great, and Hogan will
give all he can. They'll try and up the last match, and it
will most likely be a highly watchable, if predictable, match
with tremendous heat. Something happens to keep both guys
(who need a win on their returns) from losing in the eyes
of the fans. Rock gets his hand raised, after joining up with
McMahon.
Brock
Lesnar, Chris Benoit and Edge vs. Kurt Angle, Shelton Benjamin,
and Charlie Haas How great will this match be? Hard to
say. They'll get a good amount of time, work a solid match
and be the best thing on the show. Back in the day, the WWF
used to do six man matches as main events for the pre-SummerSlam
pay per view. These usually rocked, even when they had crappy
workers in like Ahmed Johnson and Sycho Sid. These are 6 guys
who can go, so it should be rad. Expect Benoit to keep it
somewhat muffled, as he has a hurt arm, Angle to keep it cool,
as his knee is still a bit wonky, and everyone else to go
all out. This could be the time when Edge and Team Angle take
center stage.
Stone
Cold Steve Austin vs. Eric Bischoff This is a no-brainer
win for Austin, but there is a lot here, and not all of it
has been addressed on TV. Now, they have mentioned that Bischoff
fired Austin saying he'd "…never be more than a mid-card wrestler,"
but failed to mention that Austin was fired by fax, and that
there was legitimate fear about bringing in Bischoff when
Austin was around because there is still big heat over the
issue. I think Austin is a professional, and will wrestle
a professional match, but I would be surprised to see him
lay it on a bit thick. The match might be pretty good, as
Austin's famous St. Valentine's Day Massacre match with Vince
McMahon was a classic, and with the no holds barred rules,
it looks like a winner. I expect the biggest thing here to
be the reaction that Austin gets. It should be huge, and if
it destroys what Hogan got, look for some bad blood to develop.
I would
say there is a 75% chance that this show will live up to
expectations.
Hard
to say what the best match will be, as there are a couple
that have blow away written all over them. Watch out for
the Six-man and the Hardy match, but that Austin match is
my dark horse favorite, particularly with the immediate
heat it will get for Austin's return. Look for some more
build towards Mania as well, especially with so many matches
being built around known Mania programs.
