Welcome to Falls
Count Anywhere! My name is Chris and I’m a Rasslin’
fan.
SmackDown!
John Cena came out and did a bit of a promo pushing The
Marine as well as his main event for the night. Pretty
good, as he always is in these things.
Rey Mysterio
is a great star. He’s probably the best flyer of the
last twenty years (there’s Jushin Liger who can make
a claim, and The Great Sasuke, but neither managed to get
as far as Rey-rey did). He had a little match with Elijah
Burke that wasn’t bad at all. It was supposed to be
Rey vs. Sylvester Terkay, but Burke took his place. Terkay
interfered, but Rey fought him off and hit the 619 and a
springboard for the win. Terkay than attacked Rey after.
Interesting. I wanna see what they’re gonna do with
that.
I missed a couple
of tag things. A package about Kendrick and London and a
match between James and Stevens and The New Pitbulls. I
hear that Stevens got the pin when Michelle McCool, who
is also hot, interfered.
Chavo
took on Matt Hardy. This was mostly a way to get the Helms-Hardy
feud a little fire and I thought it worked. Those two had
a good match last week and this wasn’t a bad match
either. Hardy was in solid control when Helms tried to interfere,
though Hardy fought him off.
Hardy
was distracted by Helms and Vickie Guerrero gave Matt a
low blow that allowed Chavo to hit the DDT and Frog Splash
for the win. Afterwards, Helms hit Matt with the Shining
Wizard. I liked this segment because it shows how you can
use simple interference and a decent match to build a real
feud.
Kennedy is a
great talent. He played the cowardly heel saying that he
wasn’t going to face Undertaker at No Mercy. They
had UT come out, say a little something and then when Kennedy
was about to toss the mic at UT, it broke in his hand. That
was weird. They’ve got something in Kennedy. The need
him to beat UT clean.
The Miz beat
Tatanka. It wasn’t a good match. I was very unimpressed.
Jimmy Yang is
already over. The segments they did with him earlier have
paid off. Jimmy Yang looked good and he’s good in
the roll of the Asian Texan. After exploding on Sylvan with
a Hurrancanrana, enzuigiri and Corkscrew Crossbody, Sylvan
managed to pin him with his feet on the ropes. It was strange,
but I like the way they’re going with Yang.
Lashley,
Batista and Cena beat Booker, Fit Finlay and William Regal.
Cena came out and attacked Regal early. Batista was in charge
early on Regal and then Booker. Batista took over and did
his thing. Then Lashley came in and got his stuff on. Cena
then came back and managed to get the STFU on Fit, but then
Booker and Regal came in and broke things up before Finlay
got away and managed to hit Cena in the arm with the Shillelagh.
That led us to the commercial and then all the heels working
over Cena’s hurt arm.

"Say
it! Say it! The Marine's much better
than Mr. Nanny!"

Cena
tagged Lashley, but then the ref wouldn’t allow it
since he didn’t see it. Booker hit the big kick, but
Lashley got to break up the pin. Booker missed the side-kick
and ended up with Cena getting Lashley for the hot tag that
the crowd seemed to enjoy. Lashley got a Spear that allowed
him to pin Booker. That’s a good way to get Lashley
back on the road to the Main Event. After the match, Edge
ran in and gave Cena a spear.
I thought
it was a show that had moments and slowed a bit in the middle.
John
Cena on MadTV
The wonderful thing about John Cena is he’s a pro.
He’s not a really good wrestler, but he tries hard.
He’s an excellent personality and does well in interviews
and TV appearances. On MadTV this week, he showed up to
do a skit about The Marine with Bobby Lee. It was
as funny as anything MadTV does, and Cena played along very
well. He’s got a good comedy vibe to him.
That’s
all for today. More will come on Thursday.
