Welcome to Falls Count Anywhere! My name

Parts
of UFC u74
I’ve only managed to see about ½ of the fights
from this weekend’s UFC on YouTube or eMule. It’s
amazing how fast these things get up there! I started with
the second biggest fight of the night in my eyes: Koscheck
vs. Georges St. Pierre. I really don’t like St. Pierre.
I think he’s over-rated most of the time, but here
he was nearly dominating. I mean, Koscheck didn’t
get too much in, save for a really nice take-down in the
first that could have led to a win, but it didn’t
work out like that. I think Koscheck is the best fighter
at his weight, but there was no taking anything away from
St. Pierre this night. He was driven to prove himself and
he did it. It wasn’t the kind of domination that ends
fights fast, but it was the kind that made St. Pierre look
really good.
And
the crowd was so damn hot! It’s insane to say it,
but I think the Von Erichs in Dallas had nothing on the
way they were reacting to St. Pierre. Koscheck got a great
heel reaction too. I want to see what they come back with
for Koscheck.
Roger Huerta vs. Alberto Crane was really
good, but honestly if all you saw was the ending you got
the best stuff. You see, they worked pretty hard, Crane
got some armbar attempts and Huerta got punches and such,
but the ending was awesome. Crane knew he needed to go big
and he got Huerta’s back. Now, 9 times out of ten,
you ain’t gonna win in a round where a guy gets your
back, but Huerta was throwing punches and elbows and then
got free and reigned punches down! It was awesome! They
stopped the fight and Huerta looked like a big star, though
he didn’t get as big a reaction as he deserved.
Kendal Grove, who I really like, Lost to
Pat Cote. I thing Cote is a great fighter. I think Grove
is a great attraction. I really think Kendall could be something
special if they give him a few big wins, even if they are
over nobodies. They need to learn the concept of squashes…
Renato Sobral beat David Heath, but after
choking him out, he held on to the choke and didn’t
let go for a while. That turned him into a big heel with
the crowd. Now, he claimed that Heath said something rude
so he didn’t want to let go. That’s probably
crap because he’d know that he’d get over better
by being a heel and not letting go. I really dislike Sobral
and I’m glad that he was fined 25 Large for his dicketry.
I want a rematch.
And
then there was the Main Event. Gonzaga’s a great fighter.
I mean, the guy KOed Mirko “Scarier than Prostate
Cancer and the IRS combined” Cro Cop. That’s
nothing to sneeze at. Randy The Natural Couture is the greatest
sports story this year. There is no one who showed as much
heart and class as Couture and his win over Tim Sylvia was
epic.
The
opening two rounds were easily Couture. He busted Gonzaga’s
nose. Gonzaga was dominated the second round, while he held
his own until the nose got busted in the first. Lots of
blood. Couture, no matter what the result, is an amazing
MMA Superstar and even moreso, he’s a stud. He took
Gonzaga down and then beat on him until they stopped him.
Just as Terry Funk was Middle-Aged and Crazy in 1989, having
the best year of his career, Randy Couture is the best fighter
in the world. He may not win every fight, but he will fight
every fight like he wants to win. That’s the mark
of a real fighter.
Good show from what I saw. I missed the
match where Stephenson hit a German Suplex that supposedly
looked awesome. I haven’t found it yet.
So,
that’s Falls for this Monday. More on Thursday!
