The
Lesnar Situation

Tired
of being the Undertaker's whipping boy.
|
It seems
that Brock is officially quit from the WWE, though there is
the thought that they are merely trying to work the situation.
During the wrestler's meeting, Brock said that he was tired
of the road and was leaving, hoping to try out for the NFL.
He was also unhappy about being programmed with the Undertaker,
which would have meant him doing a lot of jobs. The big deal
is who does this help and who does this hurt?
SmackDown!
Hurt, and somewhat seriously. You only need to look
at the ratings that Brock pulls for his main events to know
what he means to SD!.
Eddy
Guerrero: Not Sure. On one hand, he's no longer in
the shadow of the giant Brock, which will help him get over
as champ. On the other, there is no possible rematch where
Eddy can get a solid win over Brock and fully establish himself.
I think that not having Brock around will, eventually, allow
Eddy to shine more.
Edge:
Solidifies his position. He was being talked of for a run
at RAW, but with the WWE losing Brock, there is a space that
Edge can fill in the upper tier.
Undertaker:
Big time helps. There are no real monsters on SmackDown!.
When UT comes back, he'll be the biggest game in town. Then
again, there'll be no major star who can afford to drop matches
to Brock, except for maybe Kurt.
Raw:
Hurts, sort of. They are going to have to move somebody to
SmackDown! Whether it's Edge or someone else, they need to
send in reinforcements.
Goldberg:
If he needed any more fuel to get the negotiations burning,
this is it. They need a monster like Goldberg or Brock and
there is now more money available to play with. I'm betting
that they'll make him a very serious offer.
HHH:
He'll be doing mildly veiled comments about guys not being
able to cut it on the big stage. It's just another thing that
he can say to get himself over.
Kurt
Angle: Here's the guy it hurts the most. Kurt had
a perfect foil in Brock, a guy who could work his style and
get over as a serious contest. Kurt is hurting, and working
with Brock was a way that he could work a mat-based match
that would lessen the impact on his neck (until they started
dropping huge suplexes). Kurt was also associated very closely
with Brock, so the fallout may splash back on him. Also, he'll
likely take Brock's place in jobbing to Undertaker, which
won't help things.
Vince
has a huge problem. He is losing Brock, and as it stands now,
Goldberg. Flair is likely going to be going, and HHH is making
movies. Kane will be, too. The only real bright spots are
Edge and Undertaker coming back and Rey and Chavo getting
more air time in an attempt to bring up the number of Hispanic
viewers. The post-WrestleMania surge will help lessen the
impact that the departures will have, but there is a danger
that this could drive the ratings down even further.
