Stylin'
and not haterizin'.
|
Well,
Bad Blood is here, for better or worse, and I am not so much
psyched as interested.
RAW has
stepped it up, with engaging episodes the last few weeks,
and lots of well thought out build to the pay per view.
If this
bombs, and it is certainly possible that it will, it could
have serious effects on the direction of the WWE, and in particular,
the way HHH, Nash and Goldberg are viewed. Enough of the chit-chat.
Scott
Steiner vs. Test- The winner is saddled with Stacy. This won't
be good, but at least they have the storyline to fall back
on when the match becomes tedious
likely after the first
minute or so. I'll say Steiner, just because the WWE would
like to seriously push Test to bigger things.
|
Yeah,
it would suck to get saddled with Stacy.
|
Chris
Nowinski/Rodney Mack vs. The Dudleys- The only thing for certain
about this match is that Teddy Long will be stylin' and will
not, I repeat WILL NOT, be haterizin'. Rodney gets the win,
just to keep what little he has going alive.
La Resistance
vs. RVD/Kane- WWE Tag Titles are on the line
and no one
cares! Seriously, the LR are not over as serious threats to
the belt, but as annoying characters at a time when the French
REALLY annoy us all, and that time has passed (according to
Woody Allen). I don't expect a title change, but stranger
things have happened. RVD with the Frog Splash, but not a
convincing win. There is always the chance of Kane turning,
but I think they will hold off.
Stone
Cold vs. Eric Bischoff in the Redneck Triathalon- I dunno,
this could be funny, or just a huge waste of time. My money
is always on Austin, but my money is also on big waste of
time.
IC Title
Match- Christian vs. Booker T- Well, this is a fun little
match. Both these guys can go if they are given the option,
and I bet they will get a fair amount of time. Booker takes
it, as they are in his hometown and have been hyping it as
such for weeks. This will be in the running for match of the
night.
Rick Flair
vs. HBK- Oh, to have had this match in 1992. I would love
to see them do a time limit draw, but I doubt it for this
era. Flair gets the win? Michaels gets the win? We, the fans,
get the win? Nope. None of the above. My guess is a screw-job
where someone *cough*Randy Orton*cough* runs in and ruins
what will likely be a fine match.
HHH vs.
Kevin Nash: Hell In The Cell w/ Mick Foley as ref- There are
a lot of stories, but the big problem with this match is that
Kevin Nash is terrible, can no longer move, and the fans could
care less. Bringing in Mick gives it a sliver of a chance,
but still, unless they pull off a miracle, this will be awful.
I expect HHH to win, especially since they have to do the
Goldberg match with HHH soon or they'll have blown Goldberg
all to hell. HHH retains, and the match is a legend in suckitude.
Chris
Jericho vs. Goldberg- Goldberg wins, but the more important
thing is how long it goes and what does Jericho get as far
as offense? The crowd response will determine the future of
Goldberg's programs, since there is little evidence that he
has been succeeding in the role he is playing.
Jericho
may be able to get a good match out of him, and still come
out looking strong, but if he is totally squashed, then that
shows how little faith they have in him. This one is far more
interesting for the politics behind whatever decision than
the winner, which will be Goldberg.
I don't
think this will be a great PPV, but if it does a terrible
buy rate, and by that I mean less than 30% of the average
for the last year, there will be huge ramifications.

There's
some backstage...
|
Most folks
in the company are tired of HHH and his political ways, but
he has always been able to point to others as the reason for
failing PPVs and ratings. If he is the headliner in a PPV
that fails far more than any previous, he could see his star
fade quite a bit.
My guess
is, it'll do 70% of the regular PPV numbers, which should
be enough to keep some heads from rolling. The quality of
TV the last few weeks may have helped quite a bit, but there
is a section of the audience that doesn't like the direction
and is more interested in seeing SmackDown! matches and wrestlers
instead of RAW. These people are turned away in the current
format and that will definitely hurt things.
If next
month's all SmackDown! PPV does better, than we could see
a complete rethink on the power structure of the WWE.
And it's
about time.
