Welcome

Bad
Blood Review
It was pretty much as I expected, except the lows were far
lower than I ever imagined. While there were a couple of very
good matches, for the most part it was average in every way.
Except
when it sucked beyond all telling.
The opener
with Chris Nowinski and Rodney Mack vs. The Dudleys was actually
fairly good, with the crowd enjoying it the whole way through.
Even without Theodore R. Long at mic, it still moved well,
and Rodney Mack looked good. The D-Von hesitation will likely
lead to him teasing he's going to turn for a while, but then
it will end up as just another swerve. I called this one wrong.
Redneck
Triathlon Stage One: Burping Contest. Sucked. The sound effects
weren't even close to sounding real. Bad stuff.
Test vs.
Steiner started off with Scott jumping from the apron, but
slipping and just managing to get Test in the knees. It was
so bad, Joker kept laughing about it for nearly twenty minutes.
Still, this match had a few good spots, but Steiner was all
sorts of sloppy. I'd say it was fair.
Booker
T vs. Christian. Not a great match, though certainly the two
of them tried a lot of stuff that I liked. The ending killed
it, with Christian getting the DQ loss. I can see why they
didn't turn the title, as they need a longer reign to sell
it as the real deal. But if they weren't going to do the switch,
they should have not given Booker the match in his hometown.
A blown opportunity for a nice moment.
The pie
eating contest. No
I won't describe my feelings towards
this. I can't. I should say that the honeys that Bisch chose
were all sorts of HOT, but Mae
I can't even bring myself
to go any further. The Worst Thing EVER!
RVD/Kane
vs. La Resistance wasn't good, and even RVD looked less inspired
than he has of late. Kane was useless, the Frogs were only
entertaining on their double team moves, and the end was dumb.
Blah.
The Goldberg
vs. Jericho match was good. In fact, far better than most
of Goldberg's matches, and probably on the level of the DDP
match in 1998. Jericho was great, Goldberg sold, and the running
into the barricade was a solid spot. Jericho did a great job,
even in jobbing. After the match, Goldberg jawed with a guy
in a Tigger suit. I am not kidding.
Everything
about the Flair vs. Michaels match was done for the heightening
of drama, and it worked. The pre-match package was great.
The match itself built to the spots so well, it was obvious
that these two were legends. Not the match they would have
had even in 1996, but still, solid with build that matches
today just don't have. The plancha sending Flair through the
table was awesome.
Singing
contest
no wait, Bischoff into the pig pen. I'm sorry,
this whole Redneck thing just sucked.
The main
event was far better than expected. Nash moved a little, Foley
played his part to perfection, and HHH looked like the HHH
that was the MVP of the WWF. The weapons, the brawling, the
story they told all added up to a good match. They didn't
really need the cage, but it automatically gives the fans
a hook into the match.
Looking
at it as a whole: a two half show, with the first being very
lame, and the second being far better. They stacked the card
so the good was at the end, and that helped. I'd say it wasn't
a grand failure, but the number of buys may say otherwise.
